I am in the process of installing your 'Bronze' sound insulation for flooring - i.e. 2 layers of mineral wool with the thin membrane sandwiched between them and looping over the joists. I builder friend of mine was visiting and raised concerns over the merit of placing the membrane over the joists - suggesting that it might become a moisture trap and if so could lead to the joists rotting.
Can you please advise whether this 'bronze' system is a manufacturer approved usage of the membrane - does it 'breath' at all to allow moisture thru'?

The 'Bronze' system of noise control through a floor is a very efficient way to reduce noise nuisance through the floor from both below and above and comprises an impervious sound barrier layer sandwiched between two layers of sound absorbing Acoustic Mineral Wool installed between the joists.
Because it includes a heavy impervious membrane that also goes over the top of the joists, it will not breathe or allow the ingress of moisture but because it is installed between the ceiling below and the floor above, there is space on either side to allow for the free movement of air. There will always be air and moisture barriers created by vinyl floor coverings and plasterboard ceilings and this will be much the same as those.
