How to sound Insulate a ceiling before plasterboarding?
We're renovating an old house and have had to take down the kitchen ceiling. Above is a room that we are going to use for B&B so we need to insulate for sound but we'd rather not lift the floors if poss. The ceiling joists are about 6 inches deep. Should we go for your SoundBlocker quilt? Is it possible to double it up? Do you recommend using it with acoustic plasterboard?

SoundBlocker Quilt will be the best sound insulation to fix between the joists but you should also fit a double layer of 12.5mm Acoustic Plasterboard to the underside of the joists supported by our 15mm Resilient Bars and for best results, sandwich our SoundBlocker membrane between the layers of plasterboard. Have a look at our Studio Ceiling System for more info on this but substituting the AMW100 for SoundBlocker Quilt.
