My combi boiler is at a storage room of a bedroom. It is quite noisy when it is working, especially during night. There is a door between the bed room and the small store room.
May i install your material on the inner walls and the door to stop the noise? Do you have a better plan?

Hi there,
You may well need to soundproof in the cupboard the boiler is in and this will include the door but before you do this I would advise you build a sound insulated box around the boiler itself. For best results the box should be as large as possible to allow less heat build up and also to be more effective at reducing the noise output from reaching other areas. If after building and installing this enclosure you still want to reduce the noise further then you can soundproof the cupboard itself.
18mm MDF is best for this due to its high mass that will act as a sound barrier. As mentioned earlier, make this as large as possible to reduce heat build up and line the inside with our 33mm thick SA25FF/B/6 sound absorbing foam to reduce the airborne noise from the boiler. Where the pipes penetrate the enclosure, ensure the holes are slightly larger so the pipes do not come into contact with the sides of the enclosure. These holes can be sealed with our flexible Acoustic Sealant once the pipes are in position.

Ventilation. If ventilation is required, the important thing is to construct a vent that does not allow a direct line of sight into the enclosure. This vent or baffle can be a simple affair as can be seen from the cross section drawing below and should be lined with the same sound absorber as used within the enclosure.
These instructions are designed to give the basic principles of what is required to sound proof a noisy boiler and are not step-by-step instructions. Any DIY orientated person or anyone used to working with wood should be able to build and install an acoustic enclosure. PLEASE CONSULT WITH YOUR BOILER MANUFACTURE BEFORE UNDERTAKING ANY WORK MENTIONED ABOVE. WE ARE NOT BOILER EXPERTS AND CAN ONLY ADVISE WHAT WILL REDUCE SOUND.
If you are still unsure about what you are doing or feel you need some more technical advice I suggest you email our technical team tech@soundservice.co.uk or you can call them on 0845 363 7131 (Option 2) from our main menu.
