Hi
I want to sound proof a living room party wall. The wall is 7.4 m long by 2.6 m floor to ceiling. Currently it is plasterboard dot and dabbed on to a 220mm dense concrete block wall. The floor is solid beam and block.
I get a lot of sound coming through from next doors kitchen which has granite worktops butted to the wall. The sound is mainly of cupboard doors banging and objects being put on the worktops but there is also some speech. Music/tv is not a problem for me although they say they can hear my tv as I have a home cinema with a sub woofer.
I have looked at both your systems; thin wall and studio wall.
1. Which would you recommend for this problem?
2. Can you give me a price for the materials for each (obviously excl.timber for the studio wall)
3. If I install the studio system do I need to remove the existing plasterboard on the wall and is it necessary to remove 100mm at the edge of the existing ceiling so that the party wall between the ceiling joists is also insulated with AMW?
Thanks

Thank you for your enquiry and considering the noise issues described, it would have to be the Studio Wall System you have already looked at on our web site.
This will take up about 5.5 inches (138mm) of room space. This system is also the cheapest we can offer at around £33.00 sq mtr plus delivery and VAT and the required stud.
It will not be necessary to cut into the ceiling but AMW can be inserted from above if easier. Alternativey, install out Thin Ceiling System first. Click the following link
for more information on this

This system averages out at around £44.00 plus VAT per sq mtr if two layers of SoundBlocker Membrane are used or just £23.00 plus VAT if one layer of Membrane and 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard are used. -
