Dear Sir,
I am thinking of how to reduce my piano sound. I live in rental dettached house but quite small and wall is not tough.
I cannot rebuild up my house because of rental house.
Is your products, like Melamine Acoustic Foam helpful? If I put it between upright piano and wall, is it be better?
Is there something which I should put under the piano?
I play violin as well. Is there something to put gap of window or door?
Please give me advise how to prevent and reduce piano and violin sound.
I am musician myself, so I need to practice week end as well as week days.
Many Thanks,
-

It will be difficult to effectively reduce the sound of music being played unless you can completely soundproof the room such as a 'room within a room' method. With the constraints of living in rented accommodation, the best you can do is reduce reverberation of sound within the room and isolate the piano from the floor with anti-vibration mats. These will reduce structure borne sound from the piano. Anti-Vibration mats are available 1m x 1m x 20mm and can be butt joined for larger areas. A wooden board of suitable thickness to support the feet of the appliance should be fixed on top of the mats prior to installion of any equipment on top.
Reverberation within the room can be reduced with the installation of deep pile carpet, heavy drapes at the window and fabric upholstered furniture that 'breathes'. In addition, our sound absorbing Photosorption panels featuring images of your choice from our library can be hung or fixed to the walls. A panel of our Wallsorption could also be fitted between the piano and the wall.
The door can be upgraded with one of our Acoustic Doorseal Kits and an acoustic plug could be made for the window. Click the following links for more information on the products mentioned above.
